Sport Psychology

What is Sport Psychology?

Athletes need both physical skills and mental skills in order to perform to their maximum.  Without mental skills you cannot be successful in sport.  Sport psychology is an essential evidence-based branch of psychology which supports athletes and performers to get the results they want.
Sport psychologists work by:
  • Developing essential mental skills
  • Providing support for performance
  • Supporting mental wellbeing
  • Developing effective team dynamics

Sport Psychology is not:

  •  A gimmick
  •  A play on words
  •  Thinking positively
  •  Counselling
  •  A magic potion
  •  A short cut to hard work
